Limitations

Best practices and efforts have been made to provide a realistic experience of an actual trading environment. The following items (but not limited to) are known limitations of the Trading Simulator:

  1. Only equity, ETF, index, and currency options are available in the Simulator.
    1. Futures are available, but not options on futures
  2. Unrealized gains are based on the last price and should not be an indication of actual gains if all positions were to be closed.
  3. Actual performance will be dependent on the value of all closed positions.
  4. The simulator is for educational purposes only and is using the BOC daily rate, whereas the actual USX trading is settled against BFIX's 12:30pm rate
  5. To modify an existing order, the order must be cancelled and re-entered.
  6. Dividends are excluded and will not be deposited on dividend payment dates.
  7. Quotes are delayed by at least 15 minutes, except in special situations.
  8. Maintenance margins are not calculated and will be the same as initial margins.
  9. Positions are not matched for margining purposes.
  10. Multi-legged strategies must be closed in one operation (as a strategy).
  11. Options strategies cannot be reversed or shorted. It is only possible to buy or sell the supported options strategies.
  12. It is not possible to go directly from long to short position or short to long position on:
    1. single leg equity positions (can go from short to long, but not long to short)
    2. single leg option positions
    3. any multi-leg position
